OBIEE 10g Tools on Windows 7 Setup

Installation Steps FOR OBIEE 10G TOOLSET
Run the installer on Windows 7

When running the installer, you will get this message:

Oracle Business Intelligence is not supported on this Windows version. Oracle Business Intelligence is only
 supported on Windows XP x86, Windows 2003 x86, Windows 2003 AMD64, Windows 2003 EM64T, Windows Vista x86,
Windows Vista AMD64, Windows Vista EM64T, and Windows 2000 x86.

This Version of OBIEE is then not supported and you have no other choice that to cancel the installation.
To be able to start the installer, you have to use the compatibility functionality of Windows 7. And even when you use this possibility, you can get this error:
The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer
with the -console or -silent flag

The Below works great:
  • Goto  The installation folder
  • right click on the setup.exe file and select the “troubleshoot compatibility” option.

  • Select the option 2 “Troubleshoot program”
  • Program Compatibility: Select the problem
    • The program worked in earlier version of Windows …
    • The program requires additional permisssions
  • Program Compatibility: Version; Select the version Windows Server 2003
  • Click the button “Start the program” and the first installer screen must appears.
  • Access the installation files.
  • To run the installer in graphics mode, run the program setup.exe.
  • At the end of the installation, restart your computer

ODBC Connections for Online Administration of RPD

If you cant see the ODBC Connection Analyticsweb
Use the 32bit ODBC Client here
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

The 64-bit ODBC Administrator tool can be invoked from Control Panel to manage user DSNs and system DSNs that are used by 64-bit processes. On a 64-bit operating system, the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool is used for Windows on Windows 64 (WOW64) processes. You must directly invoke the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool from the SysWoW64 folder. You can use the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool to manage user DSNs and system DSNs that are used by WOW64 processes.

System DSNs are stored in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI
Registry redirection is enabled for this registry subkey. Therefore, system DSNs for 32-bit drivers and for 64-bit drivers are separated. The 64-bit ODBC Administrator tool does not display system DSNs that are created by the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool. Similarly, the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool does not display system DSNs that are created by the 64-bit ODBC Administrator tool. Also, the 64-bit ODBC Administrator tool does not display system DSNs that use 32-bit drivers. Similarly, the 32-bit ODBC Administrator tool does not display system DSNs that use 64-bit drivers.

User DSNs are stored in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI
Registry redirection is not enabled for this registry subkey. Therefore, both ODBC Administrator tools display all user DSNs.
